Blog Post #323
I don’t know about you, but I feel as if time just disappears in a blink of an eye. There never seems to be enough time in the day to get everything done. Especially on the weekends — it feels as if I wake up, yawn, stretch and then “poof” the day is gone in a whirlwind of activity and I’m facing Sunday evening getting ready for the start of the work week.
How I wish I had a magic wand that would take care of all those time-consuming chores with one swish of my wrist! But because I don’t have one of those, I have found a few tips and tricks to help me save time and make my life a lot easier, as well.
Here are four of my favourite time savers.
A Quick Breakfast
If your favourite breakfast is a delicious, nutritious and quick smoothie, here is a tip that will save you even more time in the morning. The night before, put all the ingredients for your shake, including fruit, milk, yogurt, etc. in the pitcher of your blender and put in the refrigerator. In the morning, simply pop the pitcher ion the blender and press the button. Voila, your breakfast in minutes!
A Quick Squeeze
Before you toss those leftover lemons and limes from Friday night’s party, squeeze out the juice and freeze it in an ice-cube tray. Once they’re frozen, keep the cubes in zippered plastic bags and use them for recipes that call for fresh lemon or lime juice. Note: One cube equals approximately one tablespoon of juice.
Throw a clean, dry towel into the dryer along with your wet clothes. The towel will absorb some of the moisture of your wet clothes thereby saving you time and reducing your energy use.
Cook in Bulk
When you are cooking a meal such as chili, stew or even chicken parmigiana, make extra to freeze to use later. Then on those days when you feel strapped for time (or just a little lazy), you will have a delicious, ready-made meal just waiting to go into the oven for a quick, stress-free dinner.
