Friday Night at the Movies

Blog Post #279

Friday night — a great night to stay in, cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie.

Tonight, we decided to watch The Grand Budapest Hotel with our daughter who came over to steal our food have dinner with us. We decided to watch this film on a whim — it looked interesting and got great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

If you haven’t seen this movie, you might want to give it a try — it is well worth your time. Charming, whimsical, and funny, The Grand Budapest Hotel, takes you on a fast-paced adventure through the fictional Republic of Zubrowka. Written and directed by Wes Anderson with an ensemble cast including Ralph Fiennes, Tony Revolori, the Grand Budapest Hotel won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy and received 9 Academy Award nominations.

This highly acclaimed movie is a delight to watch. Everything from the story and acting to the set design, colour and soundtrack were spot on.

The film takes place during the time period between the first and second World Wars and relates the escapades of the Grand Budapest Hotel’s legendary concierge, Gustave H. (Fiennes) and his trusted friend, the lobby boy, Zero Moustafa (Revolori) as they race to prove that Gustave is innocent of murder before the police can arrest him.

I recommend it — it’s a fun and exciting tale!
