Distraction

Blog Post #238

My daughter, husband and I watched Marvel’s, Avengers — Civil War tonight on Netflix. We love the Marvel superhero flicks and never miss one. Escapism at its best.

After the movie, my daughter went home intent on watching Guardians of the Galaxy, another Marvel film. I’m sure she’s watched it at least 25 times — she’s a crazy movie buff and loves to re-watch all her favourites multiple times.

We have a running schtick in our house around the movie, Guardians. Whenever anyone mentions it, someone, usually me, inevitably starts singing Ooh-oo Child by the Five Stairsteps. In case you don’t remember, this is the song that Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) uses to challenge villain, Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace), to a dance-off as a distraction to keep him from destroying an entire planet.

Before we know it, we all start singing the song as loud as possible and dancing around until we collapse in a heap of laughter.

So of course, we had a few rounds of this hilarity before she headed out the door … and that song is still playing in my head, so I thought you might enjoy it as well.

Here are the Five Stairsteps performing Ooh-oo Child.
