Blog Post #204
I’m getting worried and frightened all over again. Today, I read that Donald Trump has appointed Steve Bannon as his chief strategist and senior counsel to his administration. An ultra-right wing white supremacist, in the White House. Seriously?
In the light of this latest development of United States of America trainwreck, I found a great infographic on the web today.
This graphic depicts the proper way to properly take action and help at risk populations. This guide was illustrated by artist Marie-Shirine Yener, known as Maeril, and published on her Tumblr account. It offers great tips on what you can do if you witness racist harrassment.
Maeril created a similar illustration on What to do When You Are Witnessing Islamophobic Harassment which was posted on The Middle Eastern Feminist’s Facebook Page.
It can be intimidating and uncomfortable to witness someone being subjected to harrassment or bullying. You may not be sure what you can do in such situation. The guide above offers steps you can take in an appropriate and safe manner. We all need to know what we can do to help others instead of being a bystander. In this way we can do our part to help end racial attacks.
