153 Things in 17 Days

Blog Post #98

Seventeen days ago I started playing the 30-day Minimalism Game. I am joined in this game by three lovely ladies: Donna, Judi and Michelle. We are faithfully going through our homes and deliberately shedding the extraneous stuff that we have accumulated and held on to for reasons we don’t even remember — even coming across items we had forgotten that we had!

When the 30 days is done, we will have collectively gotten rid of 1,984 things!!! THAT is a lot of stuff!

My dining room table is covered in all these things removed from my kitchen in the past few days —it’s all going to be packed up and taken the thrift store this week!

I ran out of boxes — this stuff is all waiting to be taken to the thrift store

Waiting for a box — headed for the thrift store

It is incredible how much stuff I have tucked away in cupboards, on shelves, in drawers — the game is halfway done, and I still have a lot to go through. At the start of this exercise, I wondered if I would actually make it to 496, but now I am worried that I will have MORE than things than that.

We’ll see.

Today on Day 17, I give away: 1 red glass bowl, 1 Turkish coffee pot, 1 packages of silicone baking cups (unopened!!!), 1 medium glass jar with lid, 2 metal water bottles, 3 travel mugs, 1 kitchen grater, 1 tea strainer, 1 small metal bowl, 1 ziplock bag filled with plastic straws and utensils, 4 silicone dish covers.
