Blog Post #64
As the shocking news of the Orlando mass shooting reverberates around the world, I am deeply saddened by the loss of 50 lives and of the injuries of 53 more. My heart is with the victims, their families, friends, the LGBTQ+ community, the city of Orlando and the United States of America.
In the days and weeks to come, after the mourning and the shock has lessened, I hope that American citizens, and, indeed, citizens across the globe will realize that violence is never the answer.
My hope is that this tragedy can open the way for all of us, every one of us, to stand against all hate crimes, to fight for gun safety regulations that will help to ensure that this type of atrocity never happens again, to lead our communities to become inclusive, kind and loving.
Let us remember the victims of this and all senseless killings wherever they have occurred, keep them forever in our hearts, and do everything possible to move toward a society where we have brotherhood and love for all.
