Mother, Dearest. Mother’s Day 2016

Blog Post #29

Today was Mother’s Day — a day that is devoted to celebrating mothers and motherhood. It is a day of brunch, lunch, flowers, and love for that most important woman in our lives — our mother.

giftsEvery family has their own unique way to show their mother how much they are loved and appreciated. This morning, when my husband and I were out for breakfast we noticed a dad with three small daughters enjoying pancakes and waffles. We surmised that he had taken his little ones out for the morning so that their mother could enjoy a leisurely, long sleep-in! So sweet!

My Mother’s Day was lovely — it started when I called my mom to wish her the best day (LOVE you, Mom!), then breakfast with my husband, then time by myself to indulge myself at home on my own and a wonderful high tea provided by my two lovely daughters.

Mother's Day FeastA joyous occasion, with scrumptious smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches, “Dirty Martini” salad, olives, pickles, sweet baby peppers and cherry tomatoes, finished with blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and fresh pineapple. Almond cake and a variety of dessert squares with cotton candy and Earl’s Garden tea topped off the feast.

A few sweet gifts and lots of conversation and laughter — the evening was filled with bubbly, joyful laughter. Thank you, my dearhearts!! I feel loved and cherished!!

One of my favourite quotes for Mother’s Day: Call your mother. Tell her you love her. Remember, you’re the only person who knows what her heart sounds like from the inside.  ~ Rachel Wolchin

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers everywhere!
