9 out of 10 people like chocolate. The 10th person always lies.~ John Q. Tullius
Chocolate (from the Aztec word, “cachuatl” or “xocolatl”) is made from the cacao bean. The Aztecs and Mayans believed that cacao beans came from Paradise and bestowed wisdom and power upon those who ate them. Cacao beans were highly prized and as such were used as a form of currency.
The word chocolate comes . The Aztecs often mixed chocolate with chilies, cornmeal and hallucinogenic mushrooms!
Chocolate is often associated with love, it is the universal Valentine’s Day gift and during the Christmas season, boxes of chocolates are one of the most traditional presents given. This confection has long been considered an aphrodisiac, a mood enhancer, and the “food of the gods”
I consider chocolate essential for life and I wholeheartedly agree with this quote: “There are four basic food groups: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and chocolate truffles.”
Tomorrow, I am going to replenish my chocolate stores. On my list:
Lindt Excellence Chili Bar — I love the combination of intense dark chocolate with a bite of chili and Lindt’s bar is just perfect — yummy!
A carton of Breyer’s Dark Chocolate Velvet ice cream and…
Truffles from Euphoria Chocolates in Fort Langley.
